A bard, not a brand

Some people build protocols. Some people build companies. Shaka builds the feeling in the room — the thing that makes a gathering of strangers become a community, and a community become a movement.

Shaka holds no titles and claims none. "I don't believe in titles," he says. "The legend of my actions speaks louder than any false position of authority." The only title he acknowledges is the one the Ethereum Foundation gave him: Committee member for the music space at Devcon. Everything else — the bard, the steward, the producer — is what the community calls him, because of what he does.

Before Ethereum, he was already on the road: two major US summer tours with Brad Corrigan of Dispatch (Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks) as production assistant and drum tech, co-founding a youth orchestra in Managua that performed on national television, and years running a nonprofit café kitchen that fed volunteers. Music and service were always the same act. In 2022 he brought that act to Ethereum — and he has gifted music and production to the community at nearly every major gathering since.

A lifer of the popup village renaissance

Since Zuzalu — Vitalik's 2023 experiment in temporary community living — a global network of popup villages has become Ethereum's R&D lab for how humans live and build together. Shaka isn't a visitor to this movement. He is one of the people who produces its soul — village after village, continent after continent. Wherever the Zuzaluverse gathers, he is the one running the stage, the stream, and the song.

Fifteen villages and counting — plus production, livestreams, hackathon wins, and gifted music across the ETHGlobal circuit from Amsterdam to Bangkok. He even wrote songs with the communities: a Zuzalu song, an ETHGlobal song, a Devfolio song, a Nethermind song. The pattern never changes: show up, give first, make the space sing, leave it better than he found it — and never put his name above the community's.

The past is proof. But this ask is about the future — and the future has a date, a city, and a circle waiting to be drawn.

The Esmeralda P.I.T. — the village that refused to forget

P.I.T. — Public Information Transmission. Named for the orchestra pit where the musicians sit, for the transponder that transmits the village's knowledge — and in honor of OSO P.I.T., Shaka's ETHGlobal Delhi hackathon winner (Most Creative Use of ENS). (Born as "edgeTV"; renamed when that name turned out to belong to existing streaming companies. The pit was always its true name.)

At Edge Esmeralda 2026 — 800+ builders from 90+ countries, one month in Healdsburg — Shaka ran A/V and stewarded the vibe at The Loft, the main talk hall. When the village dissolved, he refused to let a month of world-class knowledge evaporate into a forgotten Drive folder. So he built it a home.

The signature invention is the Knowledge Transponder 🌊 — Shaka's insight that nobody re-watches hour-long conference videos, but people listen. So the P.I.T.'s default mode isn't a video player: it's a meditative listening stage — floating-village artwork, an audio-reactive sunset waveform, and a real-time synced transcript that glows as the words are spoken. Built by one artist and one AI agent on the Taurus multi-agent platform — persistent agent memory, background worker pipelines, and governance in the loop. When public archiving needed organizer and speaker blessing, Shaka halted his own pipeline within minutes: consent-first publishing, enforced in the workflow — not just the About page. The Open Source Orchestra — Ethereum's values, played out loud

OSO is not a brand, not a company, not a logo. It is a movement and a tradition: music as sanctuary, owned by no one, open to everyone — the oldest protocol humanity has, carried into the newest one we're building.

No auditions. No gatekeepers. No conductor on a podium. Every voice is a node; every sound, a contribution. Born at ETH Prague in 2022, OSO has activated the Devcon Music Stage twice — first at Devcon 6 Bogotá, again at Devcon Southeast Asia — and it is, quite literally, the Music Manifesto of the Devcon stage: censorship-resistant (conductorless), open source (Creative Commons), self-owned (every instrument a node), and secure (protecting the vibe of the community within a higher frequency).
